Dr. Chalisa is a Clinical Endocrinologist, Diabetes, and Obesity specialist. Dr. Chalisa’s experience crosses between research and clinical practice. Dr. Chalisa has been in practice for over 22 years in the Chicago area; she serves as the Medical Director for Endocrinology and diabetes education at Morris hospital & health care center in Chicago, IL.
Dr. Chalisa serves as the Communications Director for The American Diabetes Association Clinical Centers and Programs Leadership Team. she is also an active member of (WIN ADA)
The Women’s Interprofessional Network of American Diabetes Association. She serves as a committee member for ADA’s Wellness Village Program. She is currently associated with multiple different nonprofits in leadership roles. Dr chalisa is involved in several community projects in the Chicago area involving the Geriatrics community; these projects aim to provide education on optimal diabetes management, dietary counseling, and prevent diabetes complications.
Dr. Chalisa was inspired to pursue medicine after watching many of her family members suffer from diabetes at a very young age. During her education and medical training, she lost several close family members to diabetes and its complications. This inspired her to enter the complicated and challenging field of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism with a passion for improving the care and outcomes of people with diabetes. Durdana Hiptullah Kisat is a registered nurse working as an M.A. in a primary care clinic. She is currently involved in Mass Vaccination at Core Center. Durdana has worked with many diabetic patients and can relate to that kind of care, both on a professional note and a personal note after losing her father due to diabetes complications. The Kidat Diabetes Organization gives her a platform to use her expertise and passion to create awareness and educate as many individuals as she can about diabetes management and care. She also volunteers with various other organizations such as IRUSA, ICN, and the Naperville Special Needs Group.
Nadia Khambati, RDN, LDN is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with over two decades of experience in targeted nutrition therapy and preventive education for chronic metabolic disease. Nadia’s passion is the promotion of wellness through science based nutrition advice and helping people find a path to health through lifestyle medicine. She believes in food as medicine and that understanding the whole individual is key to empowering her clients toward lifelong, sustainable change. She is the founder of Nutrition Solutions, LLC - offering individual and group coaching to meet a variety of needs.

Jamila Husein lives and breathes organization and planning in all aspects of her life. She primarily works at home, is also a part-time nonprofit consultant, and has an organizing and event-planning business. She has a lot of experience in leading and project-managing different teams and prides herself on being a great liaison. Jamila grew up in Canada where she attended the University of Toronto and earned an honors double major in Neuropsychology and Health Studies. She learned to fly a plane before she learned to drive a car and was a devoted Air Cadet growing up. She now lives with her husband and two young sons in Illinois.
Shabbir Kisat is in retail business in the Chicagoland area. Amaan is a pre-medical student currently working as a Patient Care Technician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago,IL. Amaan’s passion is working directly with patients to help them understand their conditions and feel confident in their abilities to live fulfilling and successful lives. Amaan feels inspired to work with The Kisat Diabetes Organization as addressing education and management of chronic conditions is a long-term goal of his. Currently, he is also serving on another large hospital foundation board and spends a portion of his week working with Crisis Text Line, a text message based platform dedicated to supporting people in times of mental health crisis. “You only fail the day you stop trying”

Durriya Kisat Gunja is one of the founding members of KDO, and youngest daughter of Saifuddin Kisat, who is the inspiration behind the existence of Kisat Diabetes Organization. She is a Design Professional, a wife, daughter, sister, aunt, and mom to four beautiful children. Her professional experience spans across Brand, Marketing and Design. She is the Principal Designer at Ziyaan Design LLC., Ziyaan meaning “Beautiful”, is an interior design firm she launched in 2018. Durriya started her design career as a graphic artist and moved her way through various roles within corporate, enabling brands to deliver compelling visual experiences. In 2013, she completed her MBA from Kellogg, Northwestern, to compliment her creative experience with a blend of business management expertise. In 2021, she furthered her expertise in design and technology, completing a certification at MIT in Human Computer Interaction. The programs expanded her understanding of how humans interact with computers and new technology using AI, VR and machine learning and the role design plays within each of these experiences.
On the Philanthropic side, she has been involved with many diverse non-profit organizations over the last decade. Junior Achievement, Aavegh (Dance Troupe bringing major women related issues to the forefront through themed dance performances), Apna Ghar (Domestic Violence Shelter), HDF, Human Development Foundation (Educating women and children in Pakistan while providing sustainable solution for clean water and hygiene within the low-income communities in Pakistan) and KDO, Kisat Diabetes Organization, with a mission of diabetes prevention through education and service.
Durriya is inspired by the work of Mother Theresa, who spent her life helping the poorest of the poor, with a smile and the touch of love. The work of Mother Theresa is a constant reminder to continue doing small things with great love.

Jennifer is a marketing and communications professional with over 20 years of experience directing the voice for numerous brands and creating corporate communications strategies. Her interest in diabetes prevention and management began when she served as a freelance editor for the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHCO). Several of Jennifer’s family members have Type 2 Diabetes, including her husband, Dan, which deepens her commitment to KDO’s mission of providing comprehensive health care for patients suffering from diabetes and its complications.

Farah Chalisa is a 1L law student and social justice advocate. She currently works as a Project Assistant for the Center of New Community and serves as a legal assistant at UlWelling | Siddiqui LLP.
