One in three people are expected to have diabetes by 2050
KDO was founded in memory of Saifuddin Kisat, who passed away on May 29, 2012, after suffering from complications of diabetes. We are dedicated to helping those living with diabetes and striving to reduce the prevalence of the condition in our lifetime. We will continue to honor Saifuddin's legacy by providing support and resources for those living with diabetes.
Our Story
Saifuddin Kisat was a loving father who dedicated his life to creating a better future for his family. Despite working hard and sacrificing much, he succumbed to diabetes & heart disease before ever being able to afford adequate care - eventually leading him down the path of end-stage renal failure requiring dialysis. He sadly left us just one day shy of an amputation that could have saved his life; we cannot forget what he did for those close by throughout all these years and beyond.
Saifuddin Kisat's story is one that is all too common for immigrants and their families. They come to the United States in search of a better life but often sacrifice their own health in the process. Saifuddin's experience with diabetes has shown us that it is critical to have access to affordable care to live a full healthy life.
